Matting for Portfolio Show

Sunset over Snowy Corn Field

I’ve been working on matting for our May 1 portfolio show.  Mine will be 20″x 24″ white window mats.  Julia, at the school’s production center taught me how to use the wall-mounted window mat cutter….. what a great piece of equipment and what a great teacher Julia is!  I found that the matting really improves some images.  For example, the featured image looks great matted, although I didn’t care much for it on the screen.

Added Abstract gallery to website in preparation for Portfolio Show

Monsoon in the Arizona Desert

I’ve added an abstract Landscape gallery to my website.  I’m updating the website with photos that I’ll be showing at the portfolio show coming up on May 1 at Washtenaw Community College at the Morris Lawrence Building from 5:00 to 7:00pm.  I’m pretty excited about the abstract photos, because generally these are Raw images taken in low light.  It is really fun to see what comes out of these photos that are pretty gray in color to begin with.  I hope that you like the Abstract Landscape gallery.  If you can make it to the portfolio show, all are welcome.  Here’s a link to the gallery.  http://www.atenphoto.com/gallery/abstract-landscape/

Portfolio Show – May 1, 2013 – Washtenaw Community College – Mary Aten Photography

Waves around post

The graduating photography and graphic design students at Washtenaw Community College will be hosting a portfolio show on the evening May 1, 2013.  Additional details of the show will follow.  There are expected to be approximately 50 artists and 700 attendees.  My show will include approximately 20 photos of landscapes and bird window matted on 20” x24” boards.  The photography class will have a wide variety of styles and subjects including nature, extreme sports, wild animals, food, and portraits.

I’ll be posting galleries of my photos shortly.
